The cashier provides fast and friendly service to customers, assists them with questions and requests. Operates a cash register, packages products, works with drive-up and / or carry-out, and replenishes product as needed.

Core competencies include partnerships, growth mindset, results oriented, customer focused, and professionalism. Reporting relations include accountability to the District Store Director, Store Manager, Assistant Managers, and Service Managers. There are no positions that report to this role.

Primary duties and responsibilities include providing prompt, efficient, and friendly customer service, smiling and greeting customers, assisting customers, answering the telephone, working with co-workers as a team, operating the cash register, redeeming coupons, stocking merchandise, and maintaining the store appearance.

Secondary duties and responsibilities include assisting store management, knowing code dates on perishable items, changing register tape, and performing other job related duties and special projects.

Knowledge, skills, abilities, and worker characteristics include the ability to carry out instructions, do arithmetic calculations, and understand and follow verbal or demonstrated instructions.

Education and experience requirements are not specified. Physical requirements include the ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force frequently, vision requirements, and the ability to perform various physical activities.

Working conditions include exposure to temperature extremes, possible dampness, equipment movement hazards, electrical shock, and exposure to chemicals and solvents. This is a fast paced work environment.

Equipment used to perform the job includes a pallet jack, box cutter, cash registers, trash compactor, fork lift, calculator, telephone, intercom, cardboard compactor, copier, and fax.
