Description

The Prevention Department at Bay State Community Services manages several community-based prevention grants, funded by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health and other government agencies, in the areas of youth substance misuse prevention, tobacco prevention, and overdose prevention.

We work with community partners to promote health and well-being through local policy, practice, systems, and / or environmental changes.

We strive to apply center racial equity and social justice throughout our work. Our team works to build relationships with community partners, conduct needs assessments and develop strategic plans, implement programs and social marketing campaigns, and conduct evaluations.

General Summary : We are conducting alcohol purchase surveys, also known as mystery shopping, to encourage licensed alcohol sales establishments to comply with underage drinking laws.

We are seeking young adult mystery shoppers to enter alcohol retail outlets and attempt to purchase an alcoholic beverage.

Alcohol Purchase Surveys are a good way to encourage clerks and servers to ask for proper identification.

This position is a short term (2-3 months) contracted role.

What You Will Be Doing to Make a Difference...

  • Visit assigned stores and make attempted purchases according to provided guidelines. Staff will not complete the purchase of alcohol
  • Provide detailed feedback on the experience
  • Attend training on guidelines / procedures
  • Keeps accurate records related to program requirements

Schedule : It’s a flexible schedule but they would need to be available in late afternoons and evenings in July and August 2024.

QUALIFICATIONS (Education and Experience)

  • Reliable and punctual
  • Ability to complete paperwork in clear, timely, and accurate manner
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Flexibility in schedule and assignments required
  • Self-dedicated and self-motivated
  • Ability to adhere to procedures and guidelines
  • Available July and August 2024
  • Available in late afternoons and evenings
  • Experience working with people of diverse backgrounds
  • Acceptable CORI and SORI background record check as required by program
  • Ability to travel in Greater Quincy Area
