Overview

WHAT MAKES US A GREAT PLACE TO WORK

We are proud to be consistently recognized as one of the world's best places to work. We are currently the #1 ranked consulting firm on Glassdoor's Best Places to Work list and have maintained a spot in the top four on Glassdoor's list since its founding in 2009.

Extraordinary teams are at the heart of our business strategy, but these don't happen by chance. They require intentional focus on bringing together a broad set of backgrounds, cultures, experiences, perspectives, and skills in a supportive and inclusive work environment. We hire people with exceptional talent and create an environment in which every individual can thrive professionally and personally.

Who you'll work with

Vector is Bain's global team of technologists, designers, engineers, and data scientists. We work at the intersection of business strategy and technology to deliver human-centered, data-powered solutions that drive real impact for our clients.

You'll join the Talent Strategy & Operations team within Vector, working closely with senior leadership, project sponsors, and cross-functional teams across the globe. This role is central to how Vector—as a key innovation engine for Bain—grows, shapes and deploys its team of over 600 technology experts.

You will be the operational and strategic lead for how Vector's expert capacity is prioritized and allocated on non-client-billable efforts, supporting innovation and transformation priorities across the entire firm.

Where you'll fit within the team

As a Senior Manager, Talent Strategy & Operations, you'll lead the strategy, execution, and optimization of how Vector builds its global expert team to meet the rapidly evolving world of technology and AI. This role interfaces regularly with leadership and will be a linchpin in driving operational clarity and prioritization for Vector's most strategic talent initiatives.

You'll help design the firm's talent deployment models, and lead our process for managing the large and growing demand from within Bain for expert talent to support capability development across the firm. You will oversee a consistent and transparent pipeline of active strategic investments across the firm, monitor performance across our investments, and ensure our resources are going to the highest ROI projects—all while resolving conflicts and tradeoffs in real time.

Technology innovation is critical to Bain's future, and you will be in the driver's seat determining where and how we deploy the teams to transform our firm.

What you'll do

Lead Strategic Capacity Management :

  • Own the end-to-end strategy for allocating unbilled Vector expert capacity across firmwide strategic initiatives
  • Develop frameworks and decision-making models to evaluate and prioritize competing resource requests
  • Establish governance structures and facilitate alignment on investment priorities and tradeoffs
  • Position the process to support the full spectrum of Bain's priorities—client investments, practice capability building, and internal technology builds

Run the End-to-End Investment Process :

  • Manage a structured intake process for new requests and ensure clear evaluation criteria and decision rights
  • Maintain firmwide visibility into current strategic investments and capacity allocations
  • Lead recurring forums for leadership review, prioritization, and reallocation of resources
  • Field and resolve ad hoc and urgent resourcing decisions that arise between formal governance meetings, with speed and sound judgment
  • Drive Stakeholder Alignment and Communication :

  • Partner with stakeholders across Vector leadership, Vector Talent, practice areas, and internal functions to ensure unified prioritization and transparent communication
  • Serve as the escalation point for capacity conflicts and competing requests, resolving them with a strategic, business-oriented lens
  • Provide regular reporting and insights to senior stakeholders on status, trends, and risks across ongoing projects
  • Create Operational Rigor and Insight :

  • Build and continuously improve tools and dashboards to track capacity usage, project progress, and value delivered
  • Ensure timely updates and transparency into ongoing investments, blockers, and overall resourcing health
  • Analyze return on resource investments and enable data-informed decision making at the leadership level
  • Support Strategic Projects and People Analytics :

  • Collaborate with the Vice President of Vector Talent Strategy and Operations on special projects
  • Lead or support key people analytics efforts, helping drive deeper insights into talent deployment, project success metrics, and capacity trends
  • About you

    Must Have :

  • 5+ years of experience in consulting, talent operations, or resource management—ideally within a professional services or tech sector environment
  • Familiarity with consulting staffing models and talent deployment processes
  • Strong business judgment and structured problem-solving skills, with the ability to evaluate complex project proposals and assess their potential impact and resource needs
  • Outstanding communication and influencing skills, especially with senior stakeholders across functions and regions
  • Excellent organizational and program management capabilities; comfort operating independently and across competing priorities
  • Demonstrated success in building and running cross-functional business processes
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to synthesize large amounts of information into actionable insights
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with distributed global teams
  • Bachelor's degree required; MBA or advanced degree preferred
  • Nice to have :

  • Experience with AI, technology, or digital transformation initiatives and skillsets
  • Experience in cross-functional or innovation-driven environments
  • Exposure to internal people investment processes or innovation portfolio management
  • U.S. compensation information
