In this pivotal role, you'll work directly with the Finance Director to oversee critical accounting functions, lead the County's annual budget process, and manage complex grants in compliance with federal and state requirements. What You Would Do : Budget Leadership
Serve as the primary budget contact for 35+ County departments.Plan, lead, and manage the County's annual budget processensuring legal compliance, accuracy, and transparency.Provide guidance and technical support to department heads, elected officials, and staff throughout budget planning and execution.Deliver professional training, public presentations, and analytical reports to support strategic financial decisions.Forecast revenues, analyze expenditures, and prepare the County's Adopted Budget Book for publication and public access.Grant Oversight
Lead financial management of federal, state, and local grants.Prepare and reconcile grant reports, billings, journal entries, and federal drawdowns.Ensure compliance with OMB Circular A-133 and prepare audit-ready schedules.Act as the County's subject matter expert on grantssupporting departments and maintaining audit readiness.Audit & Reporting
Prepare year-end journal entries and audit deliverables.Coordinate with internal teams to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance with all regulatory standards.Are You a Good Fit?
Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field with at least 20 semester hours in accounting.Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, preferably in government accounting or auditing.CPA preferred but not required.Valid driver's license and insurability required.Must maintain 40 hours of Continuing Professional Education (CPE) annually.Life in Beautiful Kootenai County
