PATIENT TRANSPORTER II

Job Summary

Transports patients, specimens, and equipment throughout the facility.

Job Responsibilities

• Transports patients via wheelchair, stretcher, or bed to designated sites as requested, including patients with oxygen tanks, intravenous pumps, drips, monitors, and other equipment.
• Provides continuous oxygen to patients by setting the oxygen tanks to the same level already being provided.
• Assists patients with entering and exiting vehicles, including transfer from or to wheelchairs or stretchers.
• Delivers equipment and specimens to requesting team members or department.
• Assists team members with removal of deceased bodies from units and transport to morgue.
• Greets and provides information and direction to patients and visitors.
• Responds to Code Blue alerts including the administration of CPR.
• Operates lifts and assists nursing personnel with individuals requiring two or more team members to lift.
• Uses correct lifting techniques to ensure safety to the patient and team members.
• Sets up traction in preparation for clinicians to fit to patients, assists in adjusting traction already in use, and removes traction from bed and room once discontinued per physician orders.
