Facilities Maintenance Worker

Performs labor in the general maintenance and repair of buildings, systems and equipment. Work is performed under direction of a supervisor or lead worker.

Essential Job Functions

• Performs general maintenance and assists with tasks in minor electrical repair, plumbing, construction, renovation, modification, installation and repair of buildings, equipment, and facilities.
• Assists in writing specifications and in preparing bids for special projects.
• Operates standard maintenance equipment, simple tools, electrical tools, and light-medium heavy equipment to perform duties.
• Installs, repairs, and maintains manual locks, door openers, closers, and hardware.
• Performs the set up and break down of meeting rooms and facilities for functions.
• Assists specified crews by working as a helper.
• Recognizes and reports safety issues to direct supervisor.
• Tracks and records time and materials for assigned work orders in the work management system.
• Performs other functions related to City-wide Facilities Maintenance as assigned.

Emergency Response Responsibility : Every City employee has emergency response responsibilities, though not every position will require routine assignments during an emergency event. All employees are subject to recall around the clock for emergency response operations, which may require irregular work hours, work at locations other than the normal work location, and may include duties other than those specified in the employee's official job description. Assignments in support of emergency operations may be extensive in nature, with little advance notice, and may require employees to relocate to emergency sites with physically and operationally challenging conditions.
