MySQL DBA

Role : MySQL and Oracle / SQL Database Administrator

Key Responsibilities :

• Independently perform all aspects of relational database management for MySQL and Oracle / MS SQL, including but not limited to - installation, configuration, patching, migration, PLM / upgrade, and operational support - in on-premises and public cloud environments.
• Automate repeatable database tasks using shell scripting, Chef and / or Ansible to drive efficiency, enhance quality and reduce human errors.
• Design and implement effective backup and recovery strategy for databases to ensure timely restoration, as needed.
• Establish and maintain database security policies, manage user access, and monitor databases to ensure data is protected from unauthorized access, ransomware. or breeches.
• Design and implement strategies to ensure high availability and database resiliency in the event of a disaster.
• Proactively analyze database systems for performance tuning, remove bottlenecks, and make recommendations to reduce database response times and enhance efficiency.
• Collaborate with peer DBAs, application development groups, system administrators, and other IT professionals to support database-related projects and address operational issues.
• Refresh lower environments as needed by other teams to facilitate testing and development.
• Develop infrastructure, infrastructure tools, and documentation during project phases.
• Provide on-call operational support for Production databases and answer severity calls for problem resolution.
