Storage and Backup Engineer

Responsibilities

• Backup Management : Design, implement, and maintain enterprise backup solutions such as Commvault, NetBackup, and Veeam. Good to have experience with Dell PPBS (Druva) and Dell PPDM.
• Monitoring & Troubleshooting : Proactively monitor backup jobs and storage systems. Identify and resolve issues to minimize risks of data loss or downtime.
• Compliance & Security : Ensure adherence to organizational and regulatory data protection standards. Implement and enforce encryption and secure access policies for backup systems.
• Storage Administration : Manage SAN, NAS, and cloud storage environments to ensure performance, scalability, and availability. Hands-on experience with Dell storage technologies : PowerStore, Unity, PowerMax, PowerScale, and Data Domain.
• Capacity Planning : Analyze storage utilization and growth trends. Recommend capacity upgrades or optimization strategies for efficient storage management.
• AWS Storage Services : Administer S3 Buckets and leverage scripting for automation within AWS. Work closely with application, infrastructure, and vendor teams to safeguard business-critical data. Provide technical support and coordinate with external partners when required.
• Operating Systems : Basic understanding of operating system layers. Experience working with both Windows and Unix platforms.
• Networking : Knowledge of networking concepts and the OSI model. Ability to troubleshoot network-related issues affecting backup and storage systems.
• VMware : Basic hands-on experience with VMware environments. Skilled in creating and managing virtual machines.
