Position Summary
The Department of Computer Information Systems in the College of Business may hire postdoctoral fellows from an applicant pool from time to time. The teaching load and course assignments are made by the Department Chair. The post-doc will typically teach 2 classes per academic year for the duration of the position.
A post-doctoral fellow will conduct research in collaboration with the CIS faculty leading to scholarly publications in leading academic journals, along with teaching undergraduate and / or graduate courses in information systems. They will also advance the Department's and College's missions.
The College of Business (COB) values impactful, informative research addressing the intersections between business, society, and the environment, and excellence in rigorous research published in top journals. The postdoctoral fellow is expected to contribute to the COB mission by producing impactful research in collaboration with the Department's faculty.
The Department invites applications for a 2-year Postdoctoral Fellow position. Hiring decisions are typically made in late spring through summer for Fall and in Fall for Spring terms; applications are accepted year-round.
Essential Duties
Job Duty Category : Conduct and Publish Research
Design, analyze, submit, and publish theoretical, experimental, or empirical studies in high-quality, peer-reviewed journals.
Keep abreast of developments in the field of Information Systems.
Percentage of Time : 80
Job Duty Category : Teaching
Develop and deliver Computer Information Systems courses to undergraduate and graduate students.
Responsible for teaching 2 courses per academic year.
Has decision-making over course material, grading, etc.
Percentage of Time : 20
Required Job Qualifications
Ph.D. in Computer Information Systems or a related field from an accredited institution by the start of employment, with evidence that the doctorate will be completed prior to the fellowship start.
Established record of empirical research targeted to or published in top-tier, peer-reviewed journals in information systems.
Interest and ability to teach courses in one or more of : business information systems, business analytics, database management, systems analysis and design, computer programming, web / mobile app development, cybersecurity, computer networking, machine learning / AI, ERP and cloud computing.
Conduct research with colleagues.
Strong data analytics skills with large structured and unstructured datasets.
Preferred Job Qualifications
Aspire to develop research programs addressing development, management, and impact of digital technologies (e.g., AI and digitalization).
Strong expertise in quantitative and / or qualitative methods and ability to translate empirical analysis into novel areas.
Complement existing strengths and contribute to interdisciplinary collaboration.
Interest in areas such as AI applications, digital platforms, digitalization, social media and online communication, future of work, information systems development, data analytics, and information assurance / security.
Experience working collegially and with research that aligns with faculty interests.
