The Senior Engineer, Structural is responsible for working under the supervision of Senior Engineers to develop structural engineering solutions to the design of buildings and other load-bearing structures.

Explore your tasks and responsibilities

• Collaborates with other design disciplines and contractors to support the development of design deliverables such as reports, drawings and specifications
• Reviews shop drawings and submittals to understand how design and construction are inter-related
• Attends construction and design verification walks and submit report of observations
• Prepares structural engineering calculations and finite element modelling under the supervision of a Senior Engineer
• Analyses and designs advanced structural systems of a building or other structure
• Coordinates structural models and drawings with the other design disciplines
• Mentors Interns and junior members of project teams
• Participates in Quality Control on project documents
• Other duties as assigned

Show your expertise

• 4+ years of experience
• Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering (BSCE) with Structural emphasis required
• Master of Science in Civil Engineering (MSCE) Degree from ABET / EAC accredited program is preferred
• Exhibit a professional demeanour and be a proactive problem solver
• Demonstrate good written and verbal communication skills in meetings and reports along with respect, tact and diplomacy
• Exhibit characteristics of an emerging or developed leader
• Be capable of enjoying the work and keeping a positive attitude in a challenging environment
• Competent with structural finite element analysis software such as RAM and STAAD
• Working knowledge of Autodesk Building Systems Software design and delivery systems
• Understand industry drafting and design standards associated with detailing and construction document development
• Knowledgeable with application of codes and standards for building structures
• Understands differences between Design-Build and other project delivery methods
• Engineer in Training (EIT) certificate
• Professional Engineering (PE) License preferred
• LEED® AP or GA a plus
