The Opportunity
Join a DC high school as an ELA Co-Teacher supporting inclusive ELA classrooms and teaching two sections of Journalism per semester . You’ll co-plan / co-teach with a GenEd partner, implement IEP accommodations, and support students—primarily with OHI and SLD classifications—in a positive, data-informed environment.

What You’ll Do
Co-plan and co-teach daily ELA instruction; differentiate materials / assessments
Lead Journalism sections (writing, media literacy, publication process)
Implement IEP accommodations / modifications; collect and report progress data
Apply strong, proactive classroom management in a co-taught setting
Collaborate with teachers, related services, families, and school leadership
What We’re Looking For
Classroom Management : Strong, consistent strategies (required)
Licensure / Certification : No specific DC license required for this contract; DC OSSE Special Education and / or Secondary ELA licensure preferred. Out-of-state certs and strong experience considered.
Experience : Secondary ELA and / or co-teach experience a plus; Journalism teaching or advising experience helpful
Collaborative, student-centered approach; comfort supporting OHI / SLD
Compensation & Details
Pay : $40–$50 / hour (W2), DOE
Hours : 35 / week guaranteed; onsite only (no virtual / hybrid)
Start / End : ASAP – June 15, 2026
