IT Consultant I - Desktop Support

Overview

IT Consultant I – Desktop Support role at GDH. The key role of this position is to configure, maintain and install workstations and laptops in networked environments.

Responsibilities

• Works with members of the group to analyze workstations, operating systems, and application performance; including consulting with users
• Maintains workstation systems at performance level to meet customer expectations for reliability and stability
• Provides updates, status and completion information to manager and / or users
• Assist in developing and applying changes to IT policies and infrastructure to achieve optimum performance
• Meets agreed upon individual productivity goals
• Is knowledgeable of product applications and customer requirements
• Demonstrates excellent customer service skills
• Applies sound techniques in managing and accounting for company assets
• Duties as assigned

Education And Experience Requirements

A high school diploma or GED is required. A bachelor's degree or a degree from technical school, military electronic training, including digital electronics is preferred. Candidates should be computer literate, preferably with experience using Word, Excel, Outlook, and Internet. Candidates must be detail oriented, have excellent written and oral communication skills, willingness to learn new equipment, and be dependable.

Environmental Factors And Working Conditions

The physical environment of this position is shop / repair center work or equivalent environment, and at times will require on-site client visits. The position typically requires significant visual effort and involves assignments requiring significant levels of concentration. This position requires lifting up to 40 pounds, frequent stooping, kneeling, and bending, use of hand tools, and working with and around electrical equipment up to 70% of the time each week. Domestic travel is required more than 40 hours per week. Typical hours of operation are 9 : 00 AM to 6 : 00 PM, Monday through Friday. This position requires accurate accounting for time and materials. Overtime is sometimes required outside normal business hours. This position is designated as safety-sensitive per the Alcohol and Drug Free policy.
