Overview
The Program Director Medical Assistant is responsible for overseeing the development, implementation, and evaluation of the program. This role involves leading faculty, managing curriculum, maintaining accreditation standards, and fostering student success. This role will demonstrate leadership, collaboration, and expertise in medical assisting education.
Responsibilities
Develop, implement, and evaluate program policies, procedures, and goals to support student success
- Supervise and mentor faculty, promoting professional development and instructional excellence
- Coordinate class schedules, faculty assignments, and program activities to align with institutional needs
- Maintain compliance with accreditation, certification, and regulatory requirements
- Collaborate with institutional leadership to enhance program offerings and ensure continuous improvement
- Design, update, and enhance curriculum to meet industry standards and accreditation guidelines
Integrate hands-on training and real-world applications into coursework
Assess student learning outcomes and adjust instructional strategies as neededPartner with faculty to implement innovative teaching methodologies and technology in the classroomAdvise and support students to promote retention, engagement, and career readinessDevelop strategies to improve student performance, including tutoring and mentorship initiativesAddress student concerns and provide guidance on academic and professional developmentAssist with and attend graduation as requestedTeach classes as and when necessary and as permitted by any programmatic accreditorCultivate partnerships with healthcare providers to facilitate externships and employment opportunitiesEngage with advisory boards, professional organizations, and industry leaders to align the program with workforce demands
Represent the institution at networking events, conferences, and accreditation meetingsEstablish / maintain a high performance team of professional, motivated and engaged staff utilizing effective training, performance management and career-development activities while leading them to achieve established business results and performance metricsRecognizes and rewards employee contributions and achievementsOther duties as assignedQualifications
Bachelor's degree in Education or related field and three (3) years of practical clinical experience (required)OR Only : Minimum of three (3) years of experience in a healthcare facility including a minimum of 160 hours in an ambulatory healthcare setting performing or observing administrative and clinical procedures as performed by Medical Assistants (required)
Minimum of one (1) year of supervisory experience (required)Minimum of one (1) year of prior teaching experience (required)Current knowledge of specific subject being taught (required)Minimum of one (1) year of experience in phlebotomy, immunizations, venipuncture, injections, pharmacology, EKG, wound care, GYN procedures and vital signs (preferred)Minimum of one (1) year of experience with EHR / EMR (Electronic Health Records / Electronic Medical Records) and practice management systems (preferred)Proficiency in dosage calculations (preferred)Proficiency in curriculum development and instructional designIndependently manage complex tasks and projectsCoach and mentor junior team membersAnalyze problems, evaluate alternatives, and implement effective solutionsPresent ideas in a compelling and structured format to diverse audiencesDemonstrate refined listening skills and emotional intelligenceFacilitate training sessions and cross-functional meetingsDrive consistent results in a fast-paced environmentLeverage enterprise-level tools and systems to streamline processesCreate new and better ways for the organization to succeedDevelop people to achieve their goals and support organizational successNavigate complex policies, processes, and organizational dynamics with easeOperate effectively in uncertainty and ambiguityWork independently, escalating complex or high-impact issuesDrive innovation to improve organizational successDevelop others to achieve individual and organizational goalsNavigate complex organizational dynamics with confidencePerform effectively amid uncertainty and ambiguityEffectively direct and evaluate student learning and lab performanceAble and willing to :Communicate, think, learn, and reason
