We are looking for a committed and client-focused School- Based Occupational Therapist to develop, recover or maintain the daily living and work skills of students aged 3-21 years with physical, mental or developmental conditions. You will offer effective evidence- based and client-centered services that will enable students to confidently and independently participate and access their educational program. The successful candidates will have an holistic perspective and will be able to adapt the environment to fit the person (PEO).
- Responsibilities
- Address aspects of students performance to support engagement in educationally relevant occupations that affect function.
- Participate in the development of Individual Education Plans (IEP) and 504 Plans.
- Attendance at required eligibility, 504 Plan, IEP and dismissal meetings.
- Select and adapt the appropriate occupational therapy framework, theory, treatment, and method to direct the process of interventions and evaluations.
- Apply EB interventions to maximize safety and performance.
- Teach and educate students on new ways of approaching tasks and how to break down activities into achievable components for success.
- Assess students' educational environment and advice on modifications consistent with their needs and abilities.
- Recommend adaptive equipment and assistive technology and train in its use.
- Guide and educate IEP and 504 Team members on best practices for educationally relevant OT to support student success.
- Record-keeping, data collection and reporting on students' progress of goals and objectives on IEP's.
- Skills
- Proven work experience as an Occupational Therapist in Pediatrics.
- Excellent knowledge of principles and practices of educationally relevant occupational therapy services.
- Familiarity with interpretation and analysis of psychometric properties of evaluation tools.
- Ability to manage and adapt to a quickly changing, fast-paced environment.
- Current knowledge of treatment practices and drive to continually learn and grow in the profession.
- Excellent organizational and problem solving skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and interprofessional skills.
- Fluent in oral and written English.
- Valid Florida license to practice occupational therapy.
- Knowledge of Professional Regulations and AOTA Code of Ethics.
- BS degree or greater in Occupational Therapy.
