Elementary School Principal

Salary Range : $60,000.00 $80,000.00 per year

The Office of Catholic Schools for the Diocese of Sioux Falls South Dakota is seeking an elementary school (PK 6) principal for the 2024 / 2025 school year.

The school seeks a visionary, future-focused leader who is energetic and capable of inspiring others. A successful candidate is a practicing Roman Catholic and intentional disciple of Jesus Christ who will inspire a shared vision of the value of Catholic education across all constituencies.

As the primary agent continuing the nearly 150-year rich tradition of Catholic education, the principal will inspire and lead our faculty and staff in the transition to an authentic Catholic liberal education.

This leader is expected to possess knowledge of Catholic liberal education, adhere to the mission of the Church, and embrace the vision of the Diocese of Sioux Falls.

General Summary : The vision of the Diocese of Sioux Falls is to provide authentically Catholic education as an evangelizing mission of the Church to proclaim the Good News and be a place to encounter the living God, who in Jesus Christ reveals his transforming love and truth.

As the public leader of the school, the principal must be comfortable speaking publicly and communicating the vision of Catholic liberal education effectively.

The principal will oversee the school’s organization and administration. Together with staff, the principal manages and attends to the day-to-day operations of the school.

Requirements :

• Practicing Catholic who regularly participates in the liturgical and sacramental life of the Church, strives to live the universal call to holiness in his or her own life, and understands and faithfully adheres to the teachings of the Church’s Magisterium
• Possess spiritual maturity and be prepared to serve as an apostolate leading others including students, teachers, and lifelong learners in the faith
• Have an in-depth knowledge of the Catholic intellectual tradition and Church teachings
• Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Be able to think logically and write clearly
• Have 5+ years’ experience in Catholic education and / or Catholic school leadership
• Bachelor’s degree in Catholic Studies, Liberal Arts, Education or a related field is required; a graduate degree is preferred
