American Traveler is seeking an experienced ICU RN for a 48 hour per week night shift in a large, blended critical care unit with diverse patient populations and trauma cases.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Work in a 39-bed mixed ICU setting including MICU, SICU, CICU, and TICUPatient population includes complex surgical, medical, cardiac, neuro, and trauma casesHandles high acuity diagnoses such as ARDS, MI, CVA / TIA, COVID, post-cardiac cath, post-surgical, and multi-system traumaTypical RN to patient ratios are 1 : 1 or 1 : 2, with 1 : 3 being rare and acuity dependentCardiac cases are common; post-op CABG / TAVR experience preferred but not requiredShift is 12-hour nights, with a schedule of 48 hours per weekWeekend rotation is every other weekendFloating is rare but may occur to adult MedSurg or Tele units if overstaffed; traveler comfort with floating will be confirmed during interviewUses Epic for charting; experience required for ICU and EDICU RN may float to ED if qualifiedMain responsibilities include managing complex critical care patients across a range of specialtiesSupport includes CNAs, mobility float aide, two charge nurses covering all ICUs, 24 / 7 respiratory therapy, intensivist coverage, blood draws, midline placement, and a resource RN as neededOrientation includes hospital orientation plus a 12-hour and an additional 8-hour ICU shiftNo on-call requiredNo RTO permitted during holidays or the first three weeks of August (Sturgis Bike Rally)Navy scrubs required for this assignmentFree parking available for staff\n \n Requirements\n
Active SD or compact RN license requiredMinimum 2 years of ICU experience excluding travel experience preferred; consideration for candidates with 1.5 years ICU plus strong overall RN backgroundPrevious completion of at least one travel assignment is required; no first-time travelersCertifications required : BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, and TNCC (must be willing to obtain TNCC before arrival)Epic charting experience required for ICUExperience with IV medications (vasopressors, sedation, paralytics), hemodynamic lines, proning, ventilator management, telemetry, and critical assessment skills necessaryExperience with Impella, IABP, and CRRT strongly preferredComfortable working a 48-hour work week as this is non-negotiableMust reside at least 100 miles from any Monument Health facility to qualify as a travelerPermanent staff must wait one year before returning as a traveler\n Benefits\n
