Job Description
Petroplan is seeking a Marine Risk Coordinator to assist the Maritime Risk Manager in overseeing safe maritime operations on behalf of our LNG client.
Collaborating closely with safety, security, and environmental personnel, as well as external stakeholders, this role will contribute to maintaining high safety standards and compliance with regulations.
Education :
Bachelor's or associate degree in engineering, marine Class 2, or a relevant technical discipline.
Main Responsibilities :
- Offer strategic maritime guidance to client, providing expertise, support, and solutions aligned with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
- Promote maritime health, safety, security, and environmental (HSSE) practices, supporting terminal HSSE teams in the maritime domain.
- Collaborate with Marine Supervisors and Persons-in-charge to ensure safe and efficient cargo operations.
- Assist the Maritime Risk Manager in developing a marine risk register and implementing risk mitigation strategies in coordination with terminal HSSE.
- Develop site-specific processes and procedures in compliance with international and Federal maritime regulations and industry best practices.
- Support the Maritime Risk Manager in conducting MTMSA audits with buyers and ship operators, including document review, audit completion, report development, and managing action items until closure.
- Coordinate with local agents, US Coast Guard (USCG), and LNG tanker operators during security boardings and details to minimize downtime.
- Aid in maritime training initiatives, collaborating with the on-site training team to emphasize maritime safety and best practices.
- Provide subject matter expertise for incident investigations, non-conformity closures, and audit findings resolution.
- Work with the Marine HSSE Manager and crisis management team to implement maritime response plans.
- Collaborate with respective terminals to track HSSE statistics and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) related to maritime operations.
- Offer subject matter expertise and support throughout project development phases.
- Ensure policy coherence and develop performance metrics and business improvement strategies, focusing on delivering effective, safe maritime operations.
Experience :
- At least five (5) years of experience in marine and terminal operations.
- Experience in LNG or other cryogenic hydrocarbon liquids operations preferred, though petrochemical operational experience (shipboard or terminal) may be considered.
- Familiarity with third-party marine operations, including pilotage, tugs, and line handling.
- Experience in commissioning and startup processes advantageous.
- Must hold a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card in good standing.
Skills :
- Strong awareness of maritime safety in hazardous environments.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with Optimoor and MIS Mainstay is beneficial.
