Purpose
Automation Technicians will support Project Managers and System Engineers with creating, installing, and commissioning PLC / HMI / SCADA based systems, as well as network and device integration work.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Assist with project programming, start-up, and commissioning of new PLC / HMI / SCADA control systems, and maintain existing installations, diagnose faults, perform hardware repairs, and implement programming fixes.
- Help diagnose and resolve technical issues on-site and report findings to Project Management or Operations Leaders via email, SharePoint, or other tools.
- Participate in project kickoff and turnover meetings to understand project scope and finalize documentation.
- Organize and submit control submittals and redlines for as-built drawing creation after review.
- Collaborate with other technicians to develop technical solutions.
- Engage in technician training to stay current on new products, tools, and integrations.
Minimum Education & Experience
At least three years of experience with PLC / HMI control systems preferred.Or an A.A.S. degree in Robotics, Automation, Technology, or in the process of completing one.Required Competencies
Proficiency in at least one PLC software (e.g., Rockwell RSLogix, Studio 5000).Knowledge of at least one HMI software (e.g., FactoryTalk View, Wonderware InTouch).SCADA knowledge is preferred but not required.Familiarity with Windows Office applications and repositories (e.g., OneDrive, SharePoint).Knowledge of Ethernet and serial network communication hardware and formats.Understanding of basic process controls like PID loops and motor control.Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.Willingness to travel approximately 25% for fieldwork.Environmental and Physical Considerations
Prolonged sitting at a desk and working on a computer.Ability to lift up to 20 pounds occasionally.Fieldwork involving standing, walking, and climbing stairs on construction sites, with exposure to varying weather conditions.Tools and Equipment
