Contract Surety Underwriter - Deltona, FL

Produce underwriting profit and protect against losses through proper risk selection and underwriting fidelity and surety bonds, including contract bonds, within authority limit.

• Contribute to company profitability and minimize losses by accepting or rejecting, and underwriting a large volume of primarily contract bond submissions.
• Conduct field calls on contractors to audit records and files to assure proper underwriting determinations.
• Conduct visits to new and existing independent agents and contractors to maintain current premium and add new premium to book of business.
• Act as liaison between agent, contractor, and branch to maintain relations and facilitate resolution of underwriting or procedural questions.
• Train Assistant Underwriters to maintain good working relationships and ensure efficient processing of bonds.
• Monitor and keep current with marketplace changes in economic conditions, law, agency personnel, and underwriting and rating plans of competitors to remain competitive.
• Implement underwriting changes when directed by management or Home Office Underwriters to assure profitability.
