Job Purpose :
Support the academic and social-emotional development of students with exceptionalities by providing targeted instruction and accommodations within the general education classroom. Collaborate with classroom teachers, support staff, and families to ensure students receive the services and support outlined in their Individual Education Plans (IEPs). Promote inclusive practices and foster a positive learning environment for all students.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
Instruction / Education Responsibilities :
- Provide push-in support to students with exceptionalities in general education classrooms across grade levels.
- Collaborate with general education teachers to modify instruction, assignments, and assessments based on student needs.
- Implement accommodations and modifications as outlined in students’ IEPs.
- Use data-driven strategies to support academic progress and behavioral goals.
- Monitor and document student progress toward IEP goals and objectives.
- Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to the development of individualized plans.
- Provide small group or one-on-one instruction as needed within the classroom setting.
- Stay current with best practices in special education and inclusive teaching.
Classroom Environment :
Foster a supportive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes student engagement and independence.Encourage positive behavior and social interactions among all students.Support classroom routines and expectations in collaboration with the general education teacher.Instructional Planning :
Collaborate with teachers to plan and implement differentiated instruction.Use assessment data to inform instructional decisions and interventions.Assist in the development of behavior intervention plans (BIPs) and other support strategies.Maintain accurate and confidential records of student progress and services provided.School / Community Relations :
Communicate regularly with parents / guardians regarding student progress and support strategies.Work closely with school staff, administration, and external service providers to coordinate services.Promote a culture of inclusion and respect for diversity within the school community.Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions.Job Requirements :
Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or related field from an accredited college or university.Valid Florida teaching certification in Exceptional Student Education (ESE).Minimum of one (1) to three (3) years of successful teaching experience (may include Student Teaching Internship).Strong understanding of IEP development, implementation, and compliance.Knowledge of inclusive practices, differentiated instruction, and behavior management.Effective collaboration and communication skills.Commitment to the school’s mission and values.Successful results of criminal and employment background check.Adherence to the Code of Ethics for the Education Profession.Why Join Us?
