Systems Administrator for small established company in San Diego.
About the Role
The Sr Systems Administrator will oversee the smooth operation and security of our hybrid on-premises and cloud-based systems.
You'll leverage your expertise in Active Directory, Group Policy Objects, and patch management to ensure a robust and resilient IT landscape.
As a collaborative partner, you'll work closely with internal stakeholders to identify and implement solutions that enhance system uptime and user experience.
Key Responsibilities :
- Champion the integrity of our Active Directory infrastructure, encompassing administration, troubleshooting, and synchronization.
- Manage Group Policy Objects (GPOs) strategically, ensuring optimal system configurations and security enforcement.
- Implement a comprehensive patch management strategy, meticulously reviewing, testing, and deploying updates to mitigate vulnerabilities.
- Provision new servers and network hardware, adhering to rigorous security protocols.
- Design, manage, and maintain the network infrastructure, including firewalls and switches.
- Oversee storage arrays, file servers, backup procedures, and disaster recovery protocols.
- Collaborate with development and operations teams to optimize system reliability, continuity, and maintainability.
- Monitor and maintain robust server backups and implement effective disaster recovery strategies.
- Provide Tier 2 support and troubleshooting, delivering timely resolutions to user inquiries.
- Maintain clear and concise documentation of all tickets, requests, and incidents within the helpdesk system.
- Foster a positive and professional service ethic, delivering exceptional support to internal stakeholders.
- Communicate critical issues and project updates effectively to management and leadership.

Qualifications :
- Proven track record of success in a Systems Administrator or engineering role.
- In-depth understanding of Windows Server (2019, 2016, or 2012 R2), Active Directory infrastructure, Group Policy administration, and patch management tools (WSUS, SCCM, etc.).
- Familiarity with Windows workstation operating systems (e.g., Windows 10, 11), TCP / IP network protocols, and network analysis tools like Wireshark.
- Working knowledge of backup and security solutions and full disk encryption technologies.
- Proficiency in scripting languages like PowerShell or VBScript for automation tasks.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- The ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously.
