About the Opportunity

Join a local, growing, Top Workplace that values people, collaboration, and continuous improvement! We're looking for an experienced and motivated Purchasing Specialist to take the lead on company-wide purchasing activities, centralize processes, and help shape our procurement strategy as we continue to grow.

This role requires a professional who is both tactical and strategic — someone who can dive into the details of day-to-day buying while also contributing to the bigger-picture strategy and process development. It's currently a non-management role, but has the potential to evolve as the company expands.

If you're energized by the opportunity to make a real impact in a supportive, growth-focused environment, this could be your next great career move!

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead all buying and sourcing activities to support contract manufacturing operations, including machining, stamping, and fabrication.
  • Manage purchasing of raw materials (metal sheet, bar, coil stock), components, tooling, and VMI programs.
  • Monitor, manage, and reconcile inventory levels and transactions for accuracy, while implementing proactive and responsible purchasing practices.
  • Conduct supplier evaluations and develop relationships focused on quality, accountability, cost reduction, and contract negotiation.
  • Analyze steel and metal market trends and internal demand to support sales and operations planning.
  • Develop and maintain accurate purchasing and payment records.
  • Lead discrepancy resolution in partnership with operations and accounting.
  • Support general purchasing needs across the organization, including office supplies and miscellaneous request

What We're Looking For

  • 5+ years of progressive experience in metals procurement or a similar role.
  • Demonstrated experience centralizing purchasing functions and improving best practices.
  • Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills with a collaborative mindset.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent follow-through and organizational skills.
  • Strong analytical and numerical aptitude for evaluating data and improving processes.
  • Solid working knowledge of ERP systems and comfortable working in technology-driven environments.
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience supporting an ERP implementation (Epicor experience a plus).
  • BS / BA degree in Supply Chain, Operations, or Business preferred.
  • CSCP, CPIM, or other APICS certifications.
  • Prior experience in contract manufacturing or metals industry purchasing roles.
  • Why You'll Love It Here

  • Join a people-first culture that values teamwork, innovation, and professional growth.
  • Play a key role in shaping purchasing processes and influencing company-wide efficiency.
  • Work closely with the General Manager, Sales, Planning, and Operations teams in a collaborative environment.
  • Be part of a thriving, expanding organization with opportunities for future advancement.
