STRUCTURE INSPECTOR
Albat is seeking a Structure Inspector to join our team!
The role of a structure inspector is crucial in ensuring that various construction projects, such as bridge inspections and construction management services, are completed successfully. This inspector closely examines the methods and techniques used by contractors to ensure that everything meets the detailed plans and specifications provided for each project. Our inspectors may serve as the only inspector on a construction project or assist in overseeing construction inspection activities for large and complex projects within a district or statewide projects.
The responsibilities of this position may include, but are not limited to :
- Support inspections to ensure compliance with contract plans and specifications for all structural construction aspects, including bridges, foundations, box culverts, earth retaining structures and drainage structures.
- Facilitate compliance checks during inspections to verify alignment with contract requirements for structural elements.
- Observe, take measurements and report in detail all activities completed in field on a daily basis.
- Assist in evaluating construction phases to confirm adherence to established plans and provisions.
- Assist in evaluating contractor submissions, including false work, shoring, demolition plans, shop drawings and concrete mix designs as per contract documents.
- Support the development of contract change orders and the formulation of response to requests for information, as well as contract estimates, progress payment estimates, and any other necessary documents or reports pertinent to the Project.
- Undertake supplementary responsibilities related to structural assessment as assigned or necessary.
Requirements
Either : Bachelor’s degree in Civil or related engineering field from an ABET accredited university, structure related coursework, and 3 years of structure design or construction experience, or 8 years of structure construction experience as bridge carpenter foreman, structures superintendent or construction inspector.California Engineer-In-Training (EIT) Certificate or Professional Engineering (PE) License , highly desirable.Strong communication, verbal and written are required.Basic computer skills required. Microsoft Word, Excel, etc.Caltrans Experience, highly desired.Knowledge of Caltrans and Local Agency Standard Plans and Specifications.Knowledge of accepted construction practices constructing including, but not limited to, form and falsework construction, BMPs, and materials.Knowledge of AASHTO LRFD Bridge Construction Specifications with Caltrans Addendums and Seismic Design Criteria (SDC) is highly desirable.Must possess a valid driver’s license.Benefits
