Dot & Fleet Operations Manager

Purpose of Role
The Dot & Fleet Operations Manager is responsible for the centralized oversight of all Dot-regulated vehicles and material handling equipment (MHE), including forklifts, yard trucks, and leased assets. This role ensures safety, compliance, and performance by standardizing maintenance, monitoring driver behavior, and managing vendor and lease agreements across the network.

Strategic Planning & Reporting
Build and maintain dashboards for fleet performance, utilization, maintenance, and cost.
Develop annual and quarterly fleet forecasts aligned to business growth and customer needs.
Partner with Finance, Ops, and Engineering to support capital planning and fleet expansion strategy.
Fleet Compliance & Regulatory Oversight
Ensure Dot / FMCSA compliance across all sites, including DQFs, ELDs, HOS logs, and inspection records.
Collaborate with Safety and site leaders to ensure continuous audit readiness and CSA score improvement.
Preventive Maintenance & Asset Health
Establish and oversee PM schedules for both Dot vehicles and MHE assets (e.g., forklifts).
Ensure vendor adherence to service timelines and OEM safety standards.
Asset Lifecycle & Lease Management
Maintain a centralized fleet asset registry with visibility to utilization, service history, and lease terms.
Manage lease agreements and vendor SLAs, ensuring financial accuracy and timely renewals.
Driver Oversight & Safety Leadership
Monitor driver behavior using telematics (e.g., speeding, HOS violations, idling).
Implement a coaching and retraining framework for unsafe driving patterns in collaboration with operations leaders.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
5-7 years of experience in fleet management, transportation compliance, or logistics operations
Deep understanding of Dot / FMCSA regulations and HOS requirements
Strong experience with preventive maintenance programs, vendor oversight, and lease management
Familiarity with telematics platforms, driver behavior analytics, and ELD systems
Proficiency in Excel, fleet tracking software, and performance reporting tools
Bilingual (English / Spanish) a plus
