PCU Registered Nurse Job Details Job Title : PCU Registered Nurse – Neuro Progressive Care Unit Location : Roanoke, Virginia 24014 Assignment Type : Travel Nursing Contract Estimated Weekly Pay : $1800 - $1840 Start Date : November 17, 2025 End Date : February 16, 2026 Contract Duration : 13 weeks (option to extend up to 52 weeks) Shift : 12-hour night shifts (18 : 45 - 07 : 15), 3 shifts per week (4x12 available by request) Hours per Week : 36 Unit : 7S NCC Neuro PCU – 20 beds, including 5 beds for 24-hour epilepsy monitoring Patient Ratio : 1 : 5 typical Scheduling : Self-scheduling Weekend Coverage : Required PCU Registered Nurse Qualifications Active Registered Nurse (RN) license – Compact or Virginia single state (pending VA single state accepted if holding a non-compact license) Minimum 1 year of recent experience in PCU, neuro stepdown, or progressive care nursing Experience with Epic EMR charting system Required certifications : ACLS, BLS, NIHSS (American Heart Association preferred) Previous charge nurse experience preferred COVID-19 and Flu vaccines required (medical / religious exemptions considered) Must work at least one holiday per 13-week assignment (two holidays for winter assignments) Local candidates (within 100 miles) not accepted PCU Registered Nurse Responsibilities Deliver high-quality nursing care to adult patients with neuro-specific diagnoses, including neurosurgery, stroke, epilepsy monitoring, and medical overflow Monitor and manage patients in a 20-bed Neuro PCU, including 5 beds for 24-hour epilepsy monitoring Interpret and manage dysrhythmias; respond to rapid response and code situations Administer blood products, manage central and peripheral lines, and cardiac drips (no titration) Provide oxygen therapy, non-invasive airway management, and tracheostomy care Utilize Epic EMR for accurate documentation and patient care coordination Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams : IV, PT, RT, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, pharmacy, and more Manage telemetry, feeding tubes, pre / post hemodialysis, renal failure, ports, PICC lines, IVs, epidural analgesia, thrombolytic agents, aneurysms, craniotomy, CVA, intracranial bleeds, lumbar drains, post TPA care, seizure disorders, spinal cord injury, substance withdrawal, traumatic brain injury, CPAP / BIPAP, wound care, and wound vac Participate in self-scheduling and ensure weekend and holiday coverage as required Apply now to join our Neuro PCU healthcare team and discover top travel nursing jobs in Roanoke, Virginia!
