TEACHER -GENERALIST / SELF-CONTAINED SPECIAL EDUCATION K-12
Terms of Employment : 10 Months : FLSA STATUS : EXEMPT
POSITION SUMMARY :
The teacher will implement, into weekly instruction, appropriate educational curriculum based on the Common Core State Standards or secondary syllabi into daily student instruction.
The teacher will create and maintain an educational atmosphere that encourages effective student learning. The teacher may serve as teacher of record for students with disabilities.
This person will be expected to adhere to all Proximity Learning Inc.'s policies and report directly to the Manager of Teacher Effectiveness.
Approved candidates will be placed into an active teacher pool.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

- Administer appropriate curriculum, which is aligned with the Common Core State Standards.
- Ensure the opportunity for all students to learn in a supportive environment.
- Create and maintain a positive and academically focused learning condition in the virtual environment.
- Develop and implement the Components of an Effective Lesson for instruction.
- Analyze student progress and provide appropriate instruction.
- Develop a classroom climate that promotes positive learning conditions.
- Implement scientifically-based instruction, including Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA), to support the unique academic, social, and behavioral needs of students as appropriate.
- Develop, Implement, and act as teacher of record of Individualized Education Plans for students with disabilities.
- Adhere to federal, state, and local mandates in special education.
- Develop and implement behavioral intervention plans as identified by student need.
- Utilize positive behavioral supports as appropriate.
- Ensure that students with disabilities are receiving a free appropriate education in the least restrictive environment.
- Participate in other job-related duties and activities related to the position as assigned.
POSITION EXPECTATIONS :
- Demonstrate knowledge, skill, and ability to provide specially designed instruction to students with disabilities.
- Work cooperatively with students, colleagues, and company management.
- Guide the learning process toward achievement of curriculum goals.
- Establish and communicate clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects.
- Employ a variety of instructional techniques and strategies aligned with instructional objectives, in order to meet the needs of all students.
- Participate as an active member with other faculty and staff.
- Maintain accurate and complete records as required by law and company policy.
- Work in a collegial manner with all district / school staff to provide students an appropriate education in the least restrictive environment.
- Maintain and improve professional competence.
- Communicate effectively both written and orally.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS :
Education / Training, Experience :
1. Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university.
Licenses and Certifications :
- Must possess a teaching license issued by a state department of education.
- Hold an endorsement which is appropriate to the special education placement (i.e. K-12 Generalist Endorsement for Resource Room, Autism Endorsement for Autism).
