Location : Tacoma, WA

Salary : $126,000 (Exempt, Full-Time)

Saxon is hiring for an exciting opportunity as an Operations Manager – Machining at our partner site, in Tacoma, WA. This salaried position offers competitive pay of $126,000 per year , with the chance to lead a skilled team in a high-tech, precision manufacturing environment.

Position Summary

The Operations Manager – Machining oversees daily operations of the Machining Department, ensuring safety, quality, cost, and delivery targets are consistently met. This role provides both technical direction and leadership to machinists, programmers, leads, and operators. You'll drive productivity, optimize machining processes, and support continuous improvement efforts in collaboration with cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage all aspects of the Machining Department operations.
  • Supervise and mentor machinists, programmers, leads, and operators across shifts.
  • Ensure quality standards, production goals, and cycle times are met or exceeded.
  • Collaborate with Scheduling and Customer Service to ensure on-time delivery.
  • Troubleshoot production issues and recommend process improvements.
  • Conduct performance reviews and develop training plans for staff.
  • Support 5S, Lean Manufacturing, and Kaizen initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and work instructions.
  • Recommend upgrades to equipment, technology, and automation.

Required Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of leadership experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • 5+ years of CNC programming and / or machining experience (preferred).
  • Proven ability to lead and train technical teams.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with ERP / MRP systems and Microsoft Office.
  • Understanding of Lean Manufacturing, 5S, and continuous improvement.
  • Aerospace industry experience is a plus.
  • Physical Requirements Ability to stand, walk, sit, and lift up to 50 lbs as needed.
  • Must be able to operate in a fast-paced production environment.
