Controller Position Overview :
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Controller to join our operation. The Controller will be responsible for overseeing all financial activities of a vertically integrated cannabis company, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, finance, manufacturing, and leadership, with preferred but not required experience in horticulture.
Responsibilities :
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the accounting department, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and payroll.
- Develop and maintain financial policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure compliance with regulations and industry standards.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
- Analyze financial data and provide insights to support strategic decision-making by senior management.
- Coordinate and manage the annual budgeting process, including forecasting revenue and expenses.
- Manage relationships with external stakeholders, including auditors, tax advisors, and financial institutions.
- Lead and mentor accounting staff, providing guidance, training, and professional development opportunities.
- Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and best practices to ensure the company's financial health and competitiveness.
- Monitor financial health of the company.
Qualifications :
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field; CPA or CMA certification preferred.5-7+ years of progressive experience in accounting or finance roles, with at least 5 years in a supervisory or managerial capacity.Thorough understanding of cost accounting, GAAP and financial reporting requirements.Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks) and advanced Excel skills.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.Overlook budget and phase targets on internal projects.Demonstrated leadership ability, with a track record of building and motivating teams.Additional Requirements
