Job Description & Requirements Specialty : Med Surg Discipline : RN Start Date : ASAP Duration : 13 weeks 36 hours per week Shift : 12 hours, nights Employment Type : Travel Job Description American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med / Tele / PCU night shift position requiring active ND or compact RN licensure and strong PCU and telemetry skills. Responsibilities Work in an acute hospital setting on a 32-bed Med / Tele / PCU stepdown unit Care for adult and geriatric patients with cardiac, medical, and occasional surgical diagnoses Typical nurse-to-patient ratio is 1 : 4-5, with occasional 1 : 5-6 on nights and 1 : 3 for PCU overflow Unit utilizes Epic EMR and telemetry monitors, with techs present at the nurses' station Night shifts (12 hours) with every other weekend and every other holiday required Floating required to PCU for full patient assignments, Med / Surg, and to assist in other areas as needed No on-call or standby requirements RNs must read and interpret their own cardiac strips and titrate common cardiac drips First to float among staff Unit provides both Med / Tele and PCU level care for a variety of cardiovascular and medical conditions RNs handle Bipap, trachs, airvo, and related respiratory equipment in addition to routine PCU care Charge nurse available each shift, occasionally with a light assignment (2-3 patients) Unit supported by nurse assistants with a 1 : 10 goal ratio Any color scrubs are permitted Two 12-hour shifts of unit-specific orientation provided at start of assignment Holiday and weekend coverage is rotated among staff Up to 7 days of requested time off may be submitted up front per 13-week contract; no additional time off will be approved First time travelers are welcome to apply Requirements Active ND or compact (NLC) RN license required; pending licenses not accepted Minimum of 2 years recent acute care experience, including PCU and telemetry Current ACLS and BLS certifications required Ability to read and interpret telemetry strips independently Experience with titrating cardiac drips such as Amiodarone, Cardizem, Heparin, Nitro, and Nipride Epic documentation experience preferred Must not have been employed (full time, part time, PRN) with any CommonSpirit facilities, including CHI and Dignity, within the past year Permanent address must be at least 50 miles from the facility Copy of driver's license required for consideration Benefits High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-620430.
