Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree, active Pharmacist license, and minimum 1+ years Pharmacist experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
This position offers the opportunity to work overnight shifts in a long-term care (LTC) mail order pharmacy environment, following a 7 on / 7 off schedule (9pm 8am) over a 7-week period. This contract-to-hire role will engage in essential pharmacy duties, ensuring medication safety and compliance for patients.
Responsibilities include accepting and dispensing prescription medications, monitoring patient medication compliance and detecting over-usage patterns. The pharmacist will ensure all medicine supplies comply with legal standards and that prescribed medications are appropriate for each patient. Accurate maintenance of confidential patient records and pharmacy files is required.
Providing patients with counseling on their medications, including proper usage, potential side effects, and drug interactions is a key responsibility. Additional patient services include smoking cessation support, blood pressure and cholesterol management, and education on medical device handling (e.g., blood pressure monitors, glucose meters). The role also involves compounding medications and preparing sterile solutions following established protocols.
Supervision of pharmacy personnel such as technicians and clerks, inventory management of pharmaceuticals and medical supplies, and collaboration with healthcare professionals to identify and resolve drug-related issues are critical components of this role.
