A healthcare facility in Indianapolis, IN, is seeking a dedicated Staff Pharmacist for an overnight role within a long-term care (LTC) mail order environment. This contract-to-hire position offers a unique schedule of 7 days on and 7 days off, working the overnight shift from 9 pm to 8 am. This opportunity provides the chance to work in a dynamic setting supporting patient care and medication management.
Key Responsibilities :
- Accept and accurately dispense prescription medications.
- Monitor patient medication compliance and identify over-usage patterns.
- Ensure the supply and dispensing of medicines adhere to legal standards.
- Verify that prescribed medications are appropriate for patients.
- Maintain confidential and accurate patient and pharmacy records.
- Advise patients on medication usage, potential side effects, and answer queries.
- Provide consultations on prescription and non-prescription medications regarding storage, dosage, side effects, and interactions.
- Offer patient services such as smoking cessation, blood pressure measurement, and cholesterol management.
- Educate patients on the correct use of medical devices like blood pressure monitors and glucose meters.
- Compound medications and prepare sterile solutions following proper protocols.
- Supervise pharmacy staff, including technicians and clerks.
- Manage inventory of pharmaceutical and medical supplies.
- Communicate effectively with physicians and healthcare practitioners to resolve drug-related issues.
Qualifications and Desired Experience :
Indiana pharmacist license required.PharmD degree.Prior experience in long-term care pharmacy preferred.Strong understanding of pharmacy operations in a mail order and retail setting is a plus.Schedule :
