The Position

The Energy & Infrastructure (E&I) team, part of the $22 billion Global Alternative Markets portfolio , is seeking an Associate as the mandate executes on its next phase of growth. The strategy invests holistically across the infrastructure landscape including opportunities in traditional energy, digital infrastructure, diversified infrastructure, renewables, and energy transition. The teams mandate is to deliver compelling, risk-adjusted returns with strong downside protection and significant upside potential. The team leverages subject matter expertise, ability to underwrite complexity, speed to execute, and a peer-oriented go-to-market strategy to establish E&I as a differentiated partner of choice. This hire will be an integral member of the E&I team with significant ownership of the investment process across market research, sourcing, underwriting and ongoing portfolio management. The individual hired will be centrally involved in the execution of direct / co-investment transactions and will also contribute meaningfully to primary fund commitments / relationships.

Responsibilities

• Contribute as an integral member of the E&I Equity team to invest in opportunities across the infrastructure landscape.
• Manage investment diligence from start to finish, performing comprehensive analysis and developing recommendations on equity directs, co-investments and fund commitments.
• Effectively screen opportunities, identifying and succinctly communicating the most relevant investment highlights and key risk considerations.
• Lead the creation of investment committee materials (complete with financial projections) and present the teams investment recommendations to internal investment committees.
• Assist in the evaluation, structuring, and negotiation of economic and legal terms.
• Actively monitor existing investments, maintain external relationships with partners, and provide detailed updates to team members as needed.
• Contribute to regular engagement with external stakeholders and market participants to support the E&I teams origination goals and enhance market presence; expectation that sourcing and relationship management will become a larger component of the role over time.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with additional LMI teams including Legal, Finance, Accounting, and Risk Management to execute transactions and manage the portfolio.

The full salary range for this role reflects the competitive labor market value for all employees in these positions across the national market and provides an opportunity to progress as employees grow and develop within the role. Some roles at Liberty Mutual have a corresponding compensation plan which may include commission and / or bonus earnings at rates that vary based on multiple factors set forth in the compensation plan for the role.
