PRIMARY PURPOSE
Clinical Assistants are Licensed Practical Nurses. They work closely with providers and fellow staff to meet the needs of LCH&D. Clinical Assistants is responsible for "nurse only" visits to administer vaccines, etc. All care and services are provided in accordance with the organization's philosophy of "partnership" with patients while integrating its values of Respect, Quality, Compassion and Hope.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Review patient's medical history.
- Elicit relevant information from patient / patient's care giver regarding current and prior conditions or ailments.
- Elicit relevant information from patient / patient's care giver regarding their lifestyle and behavior.
- Measure vital signs.
- Administer medication.
- Obtain and process specimens as directed.
- Assist providers with exams and / or procedures, per the PCMH / NCQA model of care.
- Conduct clinical supply inventories.
- Stock exam rooms.
- Maintain a safe and clean environment and verify that medical equipment is in working order.
- Develop positive, professional, long term relationships with patients and their care givers.
- Educate patients and their care givers on recommended techniques to improve and maintain good health.
- Adjust approach appropriately according to the age and stage of cognitive development of the patient.
- Promote good health throughout the facility in conversation and behavior.
- Must maintain accurate records.
- Comply with HIPAA guidelines at all times
EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Must have current Ohio LPN license.Must have BLS Certification.Must meet CEU requirements mandated by law to maintain license.SKILL AND EXPERIENECE REQUIREMENTS
Must have proficient computer skills and the ability to become proficient in software programs specific to LCH&D i.e. NextGen, EPM, EHR, etc.Must have the skill and credibility to serve as a patient advocate and be a role model for change.Ability to maintain a calm and professional demeanor and communicate enthusiastically with patients.Ability to be responsive in working with a culturally-diverse patient population.Must have excellent communication skills with the ability to master a therapeutic communication approach.Ability to independently coordinate multiple tasks.Ability to work cooperatively with others.Must have valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record.Bilingual Spanish speaking is a plus.PUBLIC AND PROFESSIONAL ACTIVITES
