Job Description

Shelter Therapist

Contract Position

The Coalition to Abolish Slavery and Trafficking (Cast) is seeking a part-time contract shelter therapist to provide mental health crisis support and individual therapy to residents of our Emergency Shelter Program and our Transitional Shelter Program.

Program Description Founded in 1998, the Coalition to Abolish Slavery and Trafficking (CAST) is a Los Angeles-based nonprofit organization that is working to put an end to human trafficking through comprehensive, life-transforming services to survivors and a platform to advocate for groundbreaking policies and legislation. Over the past two decades, CAST has supported thousands of survivors through every phase of their journey to freedom from counseling, to legal resources, to housing, educational and leadership training and mentorship.

Cast's shelter programs provide physically and psychologically safe housing for trafficking survivors. Through a host of supportive programs and services, the shelters are designed to help clients establish independence, to build community, and to expand their own supportive networks. Cast currently operates 2 shelter programs, Mariposa Haven (transitional housing) and Hummingbird Haven (emergency housing) for adult female-identifying and gender non-conforming survivors of human trafficking.

Scope of Work

  • Conduct individual therapy with shelter residents that are interested (via telehealth or during monthly visits to the shelters)
  • Engage with shelter residents to build rapport and trust
  • Provide on-site clinical support in the shelter setting (a minimum of one day per month in each of the two shelters with further support as needed)
  • Consult with the Shelter Program Manager and Shelter Staff as Needed

Reporting
The Contract Shelter Therapist will report to the Associate Director of Equitable Housing, Rebecca Amado-Sprigg.

Qualifications

  • Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), or
  • Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) in the State of CA with an Active License

Compensation
The contracted shelter therapist will be compensated at the rate of $85/hour for client sessions and $75/hour for staff consultations. The contract work is expected to be around 15-20 hours per week.

Interested?
If interested, please send your resume to Rebecca Amado-Sprigg, Associate Director of Equitable Housing - rebecca@castla.org
