Supervisor : Kelsey Greer

Salary : Range 58 $45.30 (step one) - $57.43 (step ten)

Work Schedule : Monday-Friday, core business hours are 8 : 00 am- 5 : 00 pm

Work Location : In-Person / telecommute (hybrid)- The primary work location for this position will be the Maleng Regional Justice Center (MRJC), with occasional coverage at the King County Courthouse as needed.

Job Duties

This position provides program support through project management to include : Providing outreach and technical training assistance to external partners and community specific to the Protection Order Portal and civil protection order process; aiding in continued maintenance and further development of resource and workflow materials for team members, external partners and community; support the enhancement of data management through our case management system PbK and Power BI reporting by working on projects such as closing cases, developing Setting Control report in partnership with PAO Data Analytics, maintaining updated CPO forms in PbK, etc.; providing secondary training and supervision to interns and volunteers.

This position will also provide advocacy coverage as needed for petitioners who seek civil protection orders with an emphasis on Domestic Violence Protection Orders to include : Intake and interviews with petitioners; support and assistance in completing protection order forms through the online protection order system; providing general information and assistance to the public on matters related to civil protection orders; accompaniment to court virtually and in-person as requested or appropriate; referral to social service providers and civil legal aid through project safety; professional use of judgment when balancing business priorities required. The Protection Order Advocacy Program receives requests for assistance via email, phone, and in person. The ability to triage and identify the level of need is critical.

Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills

  • Considerable knowledge of the civil or criminal justice system and experience in the field of domestic violence services required.
  • In depth knowledge and experience of the Civil Protection Order process, implications on victims and application of law.
  • Knowledge of basic victim advocacy principles and ethics
  • Knowledge of trauma informed care and victim centered principles
  • Knowledge of communications principles, methods, and materials
  • Considerable knowledge of local victim services related community resources
  • Technical proficiency in case management system, PbK and web-based platforms
  • Demonstrated experience in providing training and technical assistance to diverse user groups.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Demonstrated independent judgement and analytical review of a task from beginning to end and obtaining all information needed so that necessary time deadlines are met
  • Ability to problem-solve and identify needed procedural and programmatic changes to better meet the needs of victims and community
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with strict attention to detail, are required.
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive and effective working relationships with co-workers, management, attorneys, court personnel, law enforcement, community partners and the general public
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with persons in crisis.
  • Demonstrated ability to work within and across systems and demonstrated ability to multi-task and problem-solve with quick deadlines are a priority.
  • Ability to demonstrate predictable, reliable, and timely attendance is required.
  • Ability to work with supervision, receiving instructions / feedback, coaching / counseling, and / or action / discipline.
  • Additional responsibilities and / or tasks may be incorporated, or existing ones modified as business needs evolve.
  • Ability to be adaptable and flexible to changing court processes, team needs, and use of technology.

Supplemental Information

Application Process : PAO employees who are represented by Teamsters Local No. 117 will receive priority consideration. There exists a broken rung in many organizations that can make attaining formal positions challenging to historically excluded groups. We are not requesting a detailed expression of interest, as we prefer to keep barriers for applying low and will look forward to hearing about experience and aspirations for the role during the interview process.

Selection Process : Materials will be reviewed for qualifications, and the most competitive candidates may be invited to participate in a panel interview process. Employees with less than 2 years of service will receive .25 per hour less than the hourly salary table due to a mandatory contribution toward the Teamsters Pension Trust that was voted by members of Teamsters Local No. 117.
