Pre-Op Clerk
Responsible to : Business Office Manager
Qualifications :
- High School graduate or equivalent.
- Ability to speak and understand English.
- Demonstrates good interpersonal skills and relationships, meets the public in a courteous manner.
- Current CPR Certification.
Job Relationships :
Reports directly to the Business Office Manager.Works directly with the pre-op nurses.Works cooperatively with team members from each department within the center as needed.Physical Requirements :
Ability to sit, stand, reach, and stoop as needed.Ability to stand and walk for a long period of time.Ability to communicate clearly.Ability to hear and understand.Ability to lift and / or move up to 40 lbs.Ability to transfer and assist patients up to 300 lbs.Maintains a neat, professional appearance.Responsibilities :
Expected to be at work as scheduled.Expected to work cooperatively with peers, subordinates and management.Adheres to the policies and procedures of the center.Maintains confidentiality regarding patient and employee information.Assists in maintaining an atmosphere of cooperation and professionalism within the center.Assists with maintaining a clean, safe and orderly environment within the center.Promotes good public relations with patients, families and visitors.Participates in in-services and staff meetings within department and maintains professional competency.Willing to accept additional responsibilities as directed by the Business Office Manager, Director of Nursing and / or Facility Administrator.Helps to obtain pre-operative medical clearances and all required diagnostic tests from outside MD offices.Helps to manage patient charts prior to surgery; ensures that all required medical clearances and test results are filed in the medical record.Reports abnormal test results to the pre-op nurses for immediate review.Acts as a liaison between the pre-op nurses and physician teams.Calls patients to give arrival times for surgery.Assists front office registration as needed.Registers patients for surgery and ensures that all paperwork is complete and all signatures are obtained.Collects co-pays and deductibles from patients.Ensures that the following match consents, orders and schedule.Correctly enters registration and insurance information into the computer.Alerts the PACU when patients are ready to be admitted.Performs duties associated with closing the office as needed.Acts proactively to assist the PACU Charge RN with patient flow through the Center. Monitors the daily schedule and admission times. Contacts delayed patients and informs the PACU Charge RN of delays.Performs additional clerical work as needed.Benefits :
