Structural Project Manager – Buildings

A growing structural engineering consultancy is seeking a Structural Project Manager to join its Austin office. This role offers the chance to lead a variety of building projects, mentor junior staff, and work closely with clients, architects, and internal design teams.
You’ll take ownership of projects from early design through construction, ensuring quality, coordination, and successful delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the preparation and development of structural design documents and engineering packages.
- Create project scopes, fee proposals, and contract documents.
- Forecast workloads and allocate tasks across project teams.
- Oversee engineering calculations, analysis, and design for a wide range of building systems.
- Coordinate design details with engineers, modelers, and other disciplines throughout the project lifecycle.
- Conduct and / or review construction site observations and prepare follow-up documentation.
- Review and comment on shop drawings and contractor submittals.
- Manage additional service requests, billing, permitting responses, and construction-phase support.
- Build and strengthen long-term relationships with clients and project partners.
What You’ll Bring
6–10+ years of combined structural design and project management experience.Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an accredited program.Professional Engineer (PE) license required; SE or graduate degree preferred.Strong background in the design of steel, concrete, wood, and masonry building systems.Experience with renovations, building evaluations, or seismic retrofit work is a plus.Ability to design and review gravity and lateral systems across a variety of project types.Strong time-management skills and ability to handle multiple active projects.Experience mentoring junior engineers and collaborating with BIM / technical design staff.Clear, confident communication skills with both clients and internal teams.Why This Opportunity
