Job descriptionMUST BE ABLE TO WORK ONSITE IN HAMPTON ROADS AREA Job Summary An Oracle Database Developer is part of a team that creates database code using a variety of tools. Database developers are expected to be proficient in core database development principles and methodologies. They must be able to break requirements down into appropriately sized packages, procedures or functions that are consistent with the established enterprise architecture. Database developers are also able to quickly troubleshoot and resolve issues and make recommendations to improve performance and reliability. They are also able to review requirements and estimate accurate development hours and schedule costs. As with any position, additional expectations exist. These include, but are not limited to, adhering to normal working hours, meeting deadlines, following company policies, communicating regularly with assigned supervisors, and completing other tasks as assigned. Responsibilities Participate in the SAFe Agile Scrum team environment with a focus on planning and delivering changes iteratively Review requirements and develop accurate estimates Assist with schema design, code review, SQL query tuning Upgrade and improve application schemas and data upgrades Process work accurately and in a timely manner Work independently or in teams with minimal supervision Effectively communicate with customers and other team members Takes ownership of system and software to ensure minimal defects Help troubleshoot and resolve production issues Perform other duties as assigned Basic Qualifications US Citizenship Must have an active DOD Secret Clearance Must have Level 1 or higher IAT Certification (A+ CE, Security+, CCNA-Security, CND, Network+ CE, SSCP) Bachelor’s degree (BA / BS) in Information Systems, Computer Science, or another related field Demonstrated proficiency in Database languages including Oracle SQL, MS SQL, and PL / SQL script development Demonstrated proficiency in writing database code and queries and participate in code reviews Demonstrated proficiency to develop stored procedures, packages, functions, triggers, policies for databases (e.g.in Oracle 19c) Demonstrated proficiency in creating tables, views, indexes, triggers, types, packages, and other database objects as needed Demonstrated proficiency in system design, upgrades, and maintenance according to business needs Demonstrated proficiency in maintaining database design and system documentation (DBDD) Demonstrated proficiency in designing and updating databases in accordance with DISA STIGs Knowledge of Database security features implementation to support the STIGs compliance Demonstrated experience working with development tools like TOAD, SQL Server Management Studio, Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket, Artifactory Demonstrated strong analytical and problem-solving skills Proficient computer skills and ability to use word processing tools, i.e. Google Docs If applicable : If you are or have been recently employed by the U.S. government, a post-employment ethics letter will be required if employment with VSolvit is offered Preferred Qualifications Minimum 3 -6 years Oracle Database Development experience MS SQL Server, Postgres, Aurora database experience is a plus Demonstrated ability to troubleshooting and resolving database integrity, performance, blocking / deadlocking, connectivity, and security issues Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with users, project teams, and management. Demonstrated ability to work on a variety of problems of moderate scope and complexity where analysis of the situation or data requires thorough identification of factors and analysis of impact Demonstrated ability to respond to significant inquiries from users Demonstrated ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions Company Summary Join the VSolvit Team!
