Pediatric RN Job Details

Location : New Haven, Connecticut (06510) – Connecticut nursing jobs

Facility : Level I Trauma Center, Pediatric Surgery & Solid Organ Transplant Unit

Assignment Type : Travel RN contract – 13 weeks (Start : 11 / 21 / 2025 – End : 2 / 20 / 2026)

Shift : Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (19 : 00 – 07 : 00)

Hours per Week : 36 (Guaranteed hours)

Weekend Requirement : Every other weekend

Patient Ratio : 1 : 4

Charting System : Epic EMR

Scrub Color : Royal blue

Parking : On-site (fee applies)

Estimated Weekly Salary : $1,880 - $2,020

Registered Nurse Qualifications

Minimum 2 years of recent pediatric stepdown or Level I Trauma RN experience (1.5 years with Level I or travel nursing experience considered)

Active Registered Nurse license (CT or compact state; pending license accepted if applied prior to submission)

BLS certification required

Proficiency in chest tube maintenance, central line care, surgical drains, orthopedic fracture care, and GI nursing skills

Ability to float to all pediatric units as needed

Flu vaccine required (no exemptions)

One professional reference required

Pediatric RN Responsibilities

Provide high-quality, compassionate nursing care to pediatric patients (ages 0-20) pre- and post-operatively for trauma, orthopedics, plastics, ENT, hepatology, liver transplant, and urology cases

Monitor and manage chest tubes, surgical drains, central lines, and orthopedic fractures

Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including physical therapy, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, social services, and rapid response teams

Float to other pediatric units to support patient care needs

Document all care and interventions accurately using Epic EMR

Participate in unit-based education and annual training modules

Maintain a safe, supportive, and family-centered care environment
