Associate Vice President (AVP), Proactive Care
The Associate Vice President (AVP), Proactive Care, serves as a key member of the leadership team, driving enterprise-wide strategy through data-informed insights and cross-functional collaboration. This candidate will be responsible for overseeing all at-risk contracts, including Medicare Advantage, Medicaid Managed Care, Commercial ACOs, and Direct-to-Employer arrangements. The AVP will drive performance improvement, clinical integration, and population health strategies to ensure financial sustainability and superior patient outcomes.
Essential Functions
Strategic Leadership & Vision
- Develop and drive strategic initiatives aligned with organizational goals based on the candidates knowledge of proactive care business models and needs.
- In partnership with clinical and operations leaders oversee the development of care models, analytics, and interventions that improve health outcomes, reduce costs, and address social determinants of health.
- Collaborate with clinical, operational, and data teams to monitor KPIs, risk adjustment, utilization, and quality metrics across all value-based programs.
- Translate complex data into actionable strategies that inform executive decision-making.
Cross-Functional Influence
Act as a liaison between analytics, application, and executive leadership to ensure alignment of priorities.Facilitate strategic planning sessions and workshops across departments.Champion the use of data as a strategic asset across the organization.Innovation & Change Leadership
Identify emerging trends and technologies that could impact the business.Lead change management efforts for strategic initiatives, ensuring stakeholder buy-in.Influence business and operations to create a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.Skills
Stakeholder Engagement & Facilitation : Strong executive presence and ability to influence at all levels of the organization.Collaboration & Teamwork : Experience working across clinical, analytics, operational, and leadership teams to drive population health initiatives.Governance & Contract Management : Ability to oversee population health programs, including governance structures, contract terms, and affiliate agreement frameworks.Financial Analysis and Fiscal Discipline with the ability to assess ROI, manage budgets, and ensure cost effective resource management.Population Health Program Expertise : Understanding of ambulatory quality measures, KPI frameworks, and the structure of population health programs.Qualifications
Exceptional strategic thinking, communication, and stakeholder management skills.Deep understanding of ambulatory quality measures, KPI frameworks, and benchmarking standards such as CMS Stars and HEDIS.Proven success managing complex at-risk contracts across multiple lines of business.7+ of progressive leadership experience in value-based care, population health, or managed care within a large healthcare system or payer organization.Additional Information
This is an exempt, full-time position with a compensation range of $258,000-291,000 annually and as determined by prior years of relevant experience. In addition to the annual salary, to show our commitment to you and assist with your transition, we may offer a sign-on and relocation bonus when applicable. With this position, you are eligible to participate in the Annual Pay for Performance (AP4P) Plan. This plan enables Intermountain Health to provide leaders with an additional performance compensation opportunity. The AP4P award opportunities are calculated as a percentage of your base salary. Awards are paid out based on attainment of selected Board-approved goals.Physical Requirements
