Overview
Associate Water Resources Engineer – Black & Veatch
Responsibilities
- Support hydrologic and hydraulic planning, modeling, and design of stormwater and wet weather improvements, including open channels, storm sewer systems, stormwater detention / retention facilities, dams, levees, and reservoirs.
- Support water supply planning that provides long-term resilient supplies and mitigates climate change, regulatory uncertainty, aging infrastructure, and population growth / demand changes.
- Support planning and design of green infrastructure, low impact development, and sustainable watershed measures, including structural BMPs.
- Support erosion and sediment control planning and design, including SWPPP development.
- Interface with innovative stormwater, water quality, and planning partners to leverage new technologies and approaches for the benefit of our clients.
Qualifications

2-5 years of water resources planning, stormwater design, dam safety, and / or condition assessment experienceExperience developing and executing water resource planning and design projects is preferredProficiency with working and collaborating in virtual environments (MS Teams, WebEx, Zoom)Proficiency with some or all of the following software applications and modelsMicrosoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Project)ESRI ArcGIS or QGISAutoCADHEC-RASHEC-HMSEPA / XP-SWMMInfoWorksStormWise (formerly ICPR)Capable of conducting site reconnaissance and remote investigationsExperience with regulatory requirements and procedures (FEMA, USACE, and EPA) preferredSupport client-facing and business development effortsMinimum Qualifications
Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering from either a recognized accredited program in their home country or the country in which the professional is practicing.Minimum of 1 year related work experience.Work Environment
Hybrid or flexible work options may be offered after the first 90 days of employment based upon manager discretion, job performance and work assignments.Majority of work is office based.Some site visits will be required which may necessitate navigating unpaved or natural terrain while carrying equipment.Salary Plan : Engineering. Job Grade : 015.
