Director of Sales
The Director of Sales is responsible for leading and executing the sales strategy for Hyatt House LA - University Medical Center. This role drives revenue through proactive sales, building and maintaining strong client relationships, and maximizing market share in extended stay, corporate, and group segments. The Director of Sales partners closely with the General Manager and revenue team to position the hotel competitively within the market while ensuring Hyatts standards of service and hospitality are met.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and implement a comprehensive sales and marketing plan to achieve hotel revenue goals across all segments (corporate transient, group, extended stay, and local accounts).
Identify, qualify, and solicit new business opportunities through direct sales calls, networking, and participation in community and industry organizations.
Manage existing client accounts to maximize repeat business, ensuring high levels of guest and client satisfaction.
Prepare and analyze sales reports, forecasts, and performance metrics to ensure achievement of monthly, quarterly, and annual goals.
Collaborate with the revenue management team to optimize pricing, inventory, and distribution strategies.
Conduct site inspections, client entertainment, and property tours to generate new business.
Oversee sales administration functions including contracts, proposals, RFP responses, and account maintenance.
Represent the hotel at trade shows, networking events, and industry conferences to promote the property and Hyatt brand.
Build and mentor a sales team (if applicable), fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and high performance.
Maintain knowledge of competitor activity, market trends, and customer needs to inform sales strategy.
Ensure all sales activities align with Hyatt brand standards, policies, and company objectives.
Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Hospitality, Business, Marketing, or related field preferred.
Minimum 35 years of hotel sales leadership experience; extended stay or select-service hotel experience highly desirable.
Proven track record of consistently meeting or exceeding sales and revenue goals.
Strong knowledge of sales principles, negotiation, and closing techniques.
Proficiency in hotel sales systems (Hyatt systems experience preferred) and Microsoft Office Suite.
Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to travel locally and regionally for sales calls, client meetings, and industry events.
Compensation Range
The compensation for this position is $105,000.00 / Yr. - $115,000.00 / Yr. based on qualifications and experience.
