Candidates must reside eitherin Washington or Oregon to be considered for thisposition.
The Inpatient Facility Medical Coderindependently and efficiently assigns accurate diagnosis andprocedure codes to patients health information records acrossvarious facility settings.
This role ensures adherence to codingguidelines and regulations established by CMS NCHS AMA NCCI OMAPand Client. Additionally the role involves communicating withphysicians for clarification abstracting clinical data andmaintaining high standards of productivity andquality.
EssentialResponsibilities :
- Proficientlyreview medical records and translate clinical information intocoded data.
- Assign appropriate codes fordiagnoses procedures and services rendered validating ComputerAssisted Coded (CAC) assignments for dualcoding.
- Utilize coding software systems forprofessional surgical services maintaining accuracy andvalidity.
- Abstract clinical data elements andenter them into electronic patient datasystems.
- Assign principal diagnosis andprocedure codes sequencing them as needed for proper APC MSDRG andAPRDRG assignment.
- Conduct chart analysis toidentify incomplete inaccurate or inconsistent documentation andensure compliance with coding rules andguidelines.
- Maintain productivity and qualitystandards meeting departmentalexpectations.
- Utilize resources such as CodingClinic and CPT Assistant for research and stay updated on codingand regulatory changes.
- Participate inorganizational procedures and coding educationsessions.
Qualifications :
NonnegotiableRequirements :
- Minimumfive (5) years of coding experience with four (4) years ininpatient facility coding.
- Possess one of thefollowing certifications : RHIA RHITCCS.
- Advanced knowledge of medical terminologypharmacology and coding principles.
- Advancedknowledge of ICD10CM ICD10PCS HCPCS / CPT coding systems and diseaseprocesses.
