The Operations Manager oversees all daily operations of the lumber yard, ensuring safe, efficient, and profitable management of inventory, logistics, personnel, and customer service. This role is responsible for maintaining high standards of safety, quality control, and operational excellence to support the company’s growth and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Management
- Oversee day-to-day yard operations including receiving, storing, cutting, loading, and delivery of lumber and building materials.
- Ensure accurate inventory control through regular counts, audits, and use of inventory management systems.
- Monitor production schedules, delivery timelines, and order fulfillment to meet customer demands.
Financial & Strategic Responsibilities
Manage operational budgets, cost controls, and productivity goals.Analyze performance metrics (turnaround time, delivery accuracy, labor efficiency) and recommend process improvements.Support management in planning for expansion, equipment purchases, and facility upgrades.Qualifications
5+ years of operations or logistics management experience, preferably in lumber, construction materials, or industrial supply.Strong knowledge of building materialsProven leadership and team management skills.Proficiency in inventory management systems and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
