Job description

Legal Procedures Clerk (Entry)

Impact the community in a positive way!

The Probation Department safeguards our community through the services provided to clients, the court, and victims. The Probation Department actively seeks to modify the behaviors that lead to criminal activity and those that allow for a successful transition back into the community. If you are a positive team player with a dedication to community service - this may be the job for you!

The mission of the Probation Department is to protect the community by:

  • Facilitating rehabilitation of offenders and holding them accountable
  • Conducting investigations and providing recommendations for the court
  • Enforcing court orders
  • Pursuing victim restoration and advocacy
  • Providing safe, secure, effective detention and treatment programs

Under general supervisor, performs a variety of routine clerical support work in the processing of legal and other official documents such as court actions, subpoenas, criminal warrants; performs related duties as required.

This is the entry level in the Legal Procedures Clerk series in which incumbents must possess basic clerical skills. This position is characterized by the responsibility for the preparation, processing and recording of legal and other official documents such as court actions, subpoenas, criminal warrants, legal descriptions and official notices. It is distinguished from the Legal Procedures Clerk in that the latter is the journey level working independently, and has responsibility for more technical aspects of the work and more discretion in decision making.

This position does require candidates to participate in a law enforcement background check. Interested candidates must complete and submit a personal history statement prior to receiving an invitation to interview. The department uses the 2-255 Personal History Statement Public Safety Dispatcher form found for all non-sworn classifications. The department will reach out to you to facilitate the Personal History Statement.

The eligible list created as a result of this recruitment will be used to fill full-time and part-time regular, limited-term or extra-help positions as vacancies occur in the Probation Department and Sheriffs Office. The Solano County Probation Department currently has three (3) full-time vacancies.
