The Opportunity :
This position assists in the development, implementation, maintenance, and oversight of the organization's policies, procedures, guidelines, and investigations pertaining to the Compliance and HIPAA Privacy and Security Programs.

Investigates and coordinates responses to internal and external inquiries / investigations for potential breaches of PHI or other violations of the HIPAA Privacy and HIPAA Security Rule.
Enter and update all reported concerns, questions, and incidents regarding HIPAA matters in the Compliance Department incident management system and compile statistical and status reports, as requested.
Communicates effectively, both written and verbal, to department leadership, associates, and clients regarding concerns, incidents, and investigations involving confidentiality, HIPAA, and Privacy as appropriate.
Provides support to departments in correcting compliance issues and completion of required disciplinary actions with associates involved in HIPAA policy violations.
Provides guidance and support of all organizational HIPAA Privacy programs and applications, to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and best practices.
Assists Chief Privacy Officer and Chief Compliance Officer to establish an internal privacy, security audit, and risk assessment program, to proactively identify breaches and weaknesses in privacy, security, and compliance safeguards.
Collaborates with appropriate team members or departments on revisions to Compliance policies and ensures educational dissemination of new or revised policies across the organization.
Assists in the development and completion of the mandatory annual and new employee orientation of Compliance, HIPAA Privacy and Security education, for all Team Members and associates and select Vendors.
Maintains current knowledge of Federal and State Compliance, HIPAA, Privacy, and Security regulations and assures communication of changes to Chief Compliance Officer and Chief Privacy Officer and all Team Members, as appropriate and relevant.
Assists with updates and maintain system administrator level access for Policy Management Systems, Compliance and Privacy Incident Management Systems, and other systems as assigned by the Chief Compliance Officer and Chief Privacy Officer.
Provides oversight and assistance with assigned Sanction Checks for associates and vendors.
Provides oversight and assistance with review and verification of all Conflict of Interest Statements for the organization as directed by the Chief Compliance Officer.
Experience We Love :
1 to 3 years of previous experience in a similar role
Extensive knowledge of federal, state, and payer-specific regulations and policies pertaining to documentation, coding, and billing
Prior compliance experience
Outstanding analytical, reporting, and communication skills
EPIC, Cerner, etc. solution knowledge preferable; Preferred coding and / or audit experience in Coding
Coding certification
Minimum Education :
Associates degree or equivalent experience
Required Certifications :
CHC (Certified in Healthcare Compliance) or CHPC (Certified in Healthcare Privacy Compliance) or other approved job relevant certification.
