Job description

Afterschool Program Manager

GENERAL SUMMARY

The coordinator will recruit and guide students through the afterschool program. The duties include scheduling staff, activities, events and maintaining and reporting all required data per the grant.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The above position is illustrative of the tasks and responsibilities. It is not meant to be all -inclusive of every task or responsibility.   • Collaboration with other schools for recruitment of students aged 13-18
  • Guides students through the afterschool intake assessment interview and process
  • Schedules wellness and enrichment activities after school, during February and April school vacations and a four- week summer program
  • Coordinates staff work schedule
  • Responsible for all required data collection per grant
  • Completes and maintains student registration, attendance and assessment records; and provides reports to Department of Public Health as required
  • Coordinates Professional Development for Afterschool staff
  • Attends all BSAS / DPH required meetings and PD opportunities
  • Coordinates with outside contractors and agencies to ensure attendance as needed.

MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience

Bachelor's Degree in a related field preferred

or

5 or more years work experience with youth related to substance use and recovery

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES

  • Ability to establish and maintain constructive and cooperative interpersonal relationships with staff, peers, supervisors, or managers in the work unit and other departments, as well as with staff of outside entities and other individuals, as applicable to the essential duties and responsibilities
  • Position requires some autonomy for decision-making and independent judgement
  • Strong facilitation skills; experience in developing and leading workshops and groups
  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills
  • Experience working with diverse urban families, students, and / or communities with an understanding of their unique needs
  • Ability to establish and maintain strong community collaborations and to build a team and work in fast-paced team environment.
  • Knowledge of Springfield Public School District.
  • Experience in a youth development model and experience working with diverse populations.
  • Ability to handle common inquires or complaints.
  • Ability to respond to questions for students, faculty, staff, and visitors.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to exercise good judgement and focus on detail as required by the job
  • Ability to use computer software and systems applicable to the position.
  • Ability to collect, organize, and interpret data and prepare accurate records
  • Ability to maintain well-organized materials, files, systems and tools.
  • Ability to adapt to changes in work situations and priorities.
  • Ability to reason / analyze; use logic to identify and resolve problems.
  • Ability to evaluate, organize, and summarize data and information.

  • PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

    Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, a negligible amount of force frequently, and / or or constantly having to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.

    WORKING ENVIRONMENT

    This position requires employee be in an office or similar indoor environment.
