Responsibilities of a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)
As a Certified Nursing Assistant at Complete Care at Margate Park, you will be on the front lines of patient care, providing essential support and comfort to our residents. Your daily responsibilities will include :
Providing outstanding patient care : Serve as a primary caregiver, focusing on the comfort, safety, and overall well-being of residents.
Assisting with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) : Skillfully and compassionately perform ADLs such as bathing, dressing, serving meals, assisting with feeding, ambulating, turning, and positioning residents, ensuring their comfort, dignity, and personal hygiene.
Answering patient calls : Promptly respond to patient calls, assess their needs, and determine the best course of action, calling on nursing staff when necessary.
Providing physical support : Provide physical support for patients or residents with daily activities and personal hygiene, including bathing, dressing, getting out of bed, using the toilet, walking, standing or exercising.
Turning and repositioning bedridden patients : Ensure bedridden patients are turned and repositioned regularly to prevent pressure sores and promote comfort.
Ensuring appropriate diet : Review dietary restrictions, food allergies, and preferences to ensure patients receive the appropriate diet during meal times.
Obtaining and communicating information : Gather a wide range of information from physicians, caregivers, and nurses about patient conditions, treatment plans, and suggested activities to ensure a consistent and holistic approach to care.
Measuring and recording intake and output : Accurately measure and record food and liquid intake, as well as urinary and fecal output, reporting any significant changes to the medical or nursing staff.
Recording vital signs : Take and record vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rate, as requested by the nursing staff.
Examining patients for issues : Proactively examine patients to detect issues requiring medical attention, such as open wounds, bruises, or blood in the urine, and report these observations immediately.
Medication reminders : Gently remind patients to take their medications and nutritional supplements as scheduled.
Noting observations of patient behavior : Record and report any significant observations of patient behavior, including complaints or physical symptoms, to the nursing staff.
Staying up to date on training : Stay up to date on all required CNA training and adhere to all facility policies and procedures to ensure the highest standards of care.
Maintaining a clean and safe environment : Proactively maintain clean, safe, and organized living conditions for all residents, contributing to a healthy and comfortable environment that promotes well-being.
Accurate documentation and reporting : Ensure all reports and records are completed in a timely and accurate manner, documenting observations, care provided, and any changes in resident condition to support comprehensive care planning.
Adherence to guidelines : Diligently perform all duties in strict accordance with local, state, and federal guidelines and regulations, upholding the highest standards of patient care and compliance.
Collaborative team player : Enthusiastically perform all other duties as assigned by the Unit Manager, Director of Nursing, and Administrator, demonstrating flexibility and a willingness to contribute to the overall success and smooth operation of our care services. Your role is vital to the entire team's success.
Qualifications
To be successful as a Certified Nursing Assistant at Complete Care at Margate Park you must possess :
Certified Nursing Assistant Certification : A current and active Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification from your state is required.
Current CPR (American Heart Association) : You must have current CPR certification from the American Heart Association.
Education : A High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
Teamwork and Independence : The proven ability to work independently when necessary, as well as being a strong and collaborative part of a group environment.
Basic Computer Knowledge : Familiarity with basic computer functions and data entry to assist with documentation.
Experience (Preferred) : While previous long-term care experience is preferred, it is not required. We welcome dedicated individuals who are eager to learn and grow with us.
Excellent personal hygiene : Maintain excellent personal hygiene to ensure a clean and sanitary environment for patient care.

License / Certification / Registration
To be considered for this vital role, you must possess :
An Active IL CNA Certified Nursing Assistant certification.
Licensure / Certification / Registration per state requirements.
Compliance with all state health care worker background check requirements.
