Behavioral Health Nurse Director will join a publicly governed, mission-driven healthcare district serving a diverse Central California community across multiple campuses and care settings. The Behavioral Health Nurse Director will be part of a teaching environment that supports a psychiatric residency program and delivers comprehensive services through an acute care hospital, specialized centers, and clinics. In this multi-campus healthcare district with hundreds of inpatient beds and a workforce of several thousand, the Behavioral Health Nurse Director will find the scale, resources, and teamwork needed to advance exceptional behavioral health outcomes.
Behavioral Health Nurse Director reports to senior nursing leadership within the behavioral health service line and serves as the visible operational leader for inpatient psychiatry. Behavioral Health Nurse Director leads nurse managers, charge nurses, clinical educators, behavioral health RNs, mental health technicians, social workers, and case management professionals. Behavioral Health Nurse Director partners closely with Medical Directors, attending psychiatrists, psychiatric residents, quality and safety teams, finance, HR, security, and emergency services to align care, safety, access, and throughput.
Behavioral Health Nurse Director will oversee an inpatient mental health hospital with 63 beds, primarily serving involuntary admissions with complex, chronic behavioral health needs. Behavioral Health Nurse Director will also launch and stabilize a new Youth Stabilization Unit with a census of 12 while contributing to planning for a future Adolescent facility on the same campus. Behavioral Health Nurse Director will cultivate a high-reliability, safety-forward culture that is fast-paced, collaborative, and supportive, working alongside exceptional psychiatrists, residents, nursing, and ancillary teams.
Behavioral Health Nurse Director will elevate clinical practice via competency management, crisis intervention readiness, evidence-based protocols, trauma-informed care, professional development, and continuous quality improvement. Behavioral Health Nurse Director will direct day-to-day operations, staffing and scheduling, budgeting, information systems, policy development, and performance metrics while strengthening physician relations and community partnerships. Behavioral Health Nurse Director will ensure regulatory compliance, patient rights advocacy, proactive risk management, and robust feedback loops that drive service enhancements across all lines.
