Position Overview : A Senior Manufacturing Associate within the OSA department is responsible to direct the work of employees within the area and facilitate open communication within the department.

This position must be prepared and able to perform all the functions within the area as needed, with a focus on meeting production needs.

This work is in a clean room environment where attention to detail, a focus on safety and quality as well as an ability to strive for continuous improvement are crucial.

Responsibilities

  • Directs the work of employees within the area, ensuring the correct work instructions are being followed and continuous workflow is maintained
  • Trains new employees on manufacturing processes and computer skills, and provides ongoing coaching to all employees within area
  • Promotes job and process improvement as it relates to the department (through S as well as other improvement initiatives), including Gemba walks, value stream mapping and kaizen activities as well as audits
  • Interacts with engineering to facilitate rework and implementation of new products
  • Monitors process inspection and testing queues with a focus on level loading
  • Follows safety guidelines (PPE, etc.) and demonstrates safe work practices
  • Maintains a good safety record, has a working knowledge of the behavioral based safety initiatives and accepts the responsibility to communicate unsafe situations
  • Adheres to the safety and quality standards (goals and metrics) of the organization while working within a team environment
  • Maintains timely and accurate production reports, checklists and other documentation
  • Provides effort in all levels of work tasks, including highly technical job functions as well as cleaning the work area as needed
  • Responds to multiple production assignments in a timely and efficient manner
  • Overtime may be required, based on business need; regular attendance required
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalency required
  • years of handling fiber optics
  • years of clean room experience
  • Strong working knowledge of Lean manufacturing / S required
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and positive communication style
  • Proficiency in electro-mechanical assembly operations required
  • Math skills to include addition, subtraction, multiplication and division in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals
  • Proficient computer skills, including entering data into software program, looking up documents within an online library and MS Office, including Outlook
  • Ability to read and interpret hand held measuring equipment such as a metal rule and pressure gauges
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written and oral instructions
  • Efficiently use measuring equipment, including but not limited to tape measures, calipers, verniers and micrometers
  • Apply basic troubleshooting skills and make sound decisions
  • Safely work with hand tools and sharps, such as scissors, regularly
  • Possess the ability to react to changes of responsibility throughout the day
  • Must have the flexibility to respond to multiple assignments
  • Ability to work any shift, including nights and weekends
  • Ability to speak, read and write English with technical proficiency
